India Well Project

Keith and his wife Ruth from Abingdon Blinds & Curtains have started a charitable organisation, aiming to help the very poorest in India. The lowest in the Indian caste system, the Dalits, are often severely discriminated against and despite legislation to prevent this happening, marginalisation of the Dalits is still pervasive. Otherwise referred to as the Untouchables, the Dalits are often prevented from using the village hand pumps and drawing water. It is thought by some that if the Dalits use the community hand pump, somehow the water is contaminated!!

Abingdon Blinds & Curtains supports the India Well Project & seeks to offset this appalling discrimination, by raising funds to bore wells in the north of India. The wells will be available to all, regardless of caste or faith.
